History of Civil Service Selection and Training Department
Pursuant to the Union Civil Service Board Act (1953), Union Civil Service Board had an office headed by a secretary and undertook the selection of civil service personnel. In 1972, Union Civil Service Board was reorganized as Civil Service Selection and Training Board according to the new administration system and took various duties and responsibilities. Later, the former office was transferred to Ministry of Home Affairs and Religious Affairs and since then, Civil Service Selection and Training Department was organized under the Board.
Civil Service Selection and Training Department under Union Civil Service Board was organized with the total number of 139 staff including 19 officials and 120 non-gazette officials on 4th December, 1997 with the approval of State Peace and Development Council at the meeting No. (11/1997) of Union Government; it was also reorganized on 11th July, 2002 with the total number of 174 staff including 31 officials and 143 non-gazette officials with the approval of State Peace and Development Council at the meeting No. (25/2002) of Union Government; later on 26th April, 2013, with the total number of 195 staff including 38 officials and 157 non-gazette officials according to the approval of the meeting No. (14/2013) of Union Government; then, with the total number of 212 staff including 46 officials and 166 non-gazette officials on 18th December, 2014 pursuant to the approval of the meeting No. (25/2014) of Union Government; again by the total number of 237 including 59 officials and 178 non-gazette officials- on 9th July, 2020 according to the approval of the meeting No. (13/2020) of Union Government. At the present, the CSSTD is well reorganized with the total number of the staff of 216 including 52 officials and 164 non-gazette officials with the approval of the State Administration Council at the meeting No. 4/2022 of the Union Government.
